000 — Initialising six capability worlds
Bloemfontein · Free State · Open to executive and advisory engagements

Building institutions that outlast the people who build them.

Strategic communications, internationalisation, organisational transformation, organisational development and innovation, practised as one function rather than five. The through line is institution building: making organisations capable of creating lasting societal impact, and then making that capability survive a change of personnel.

01 / Proposition

A job title is a description of duties. It is not a description of value.

Every responsibility below answers one question: how does this contribute to building a stronger institution? The left column is what the job is called. The middle is what the work actually does. The right is the record it stands on, so that nothing here has to be taken on trust.

Read the third column first. Executive language is only worth using when there is something underneath it, and the anchor is what separates a positioning statement from an inflated one.

02 / Six Worlds

Six capability worlds, one operating logic.

Each world carries a thesis, the capabilities inside it with their anchors, the ambitions I am building towards, and one instrument that makes the shape of the work visible. Select a world from the rail.

03 / Career Galaxy

Thirteen years and counting, told as a system rather than a list.

Each body is an institution. Distance from centre is time. Size is scope of accountability. Drag to rotate the field, or select any body to open the full record: problem, strategy, execution, outcome and what it taught.

04 / Impact Dashboard

Counts I can stand behind.

Matters of record rather than performance estimates. Each figure can be confirmed from employment history, committee minutes, event programmes or a published platform you can open right now.

Deliberate omission. Percentage growth figures appear on my curriculum vitae as internally reported measures. They are not published here because a visitor cannot verify them, and a page built on evidence is weakened rather than strengthened by a number that has to be taken on faith. Available with source and method on request.
05 / Societal Impact

Social innovation, delivered without a budget line.

Convening capability applied where no mandate required it. Brokered partnerships, established facilities, and programmes that kept running after the launch photograph was taken. This is the proving ground for the community development ambition, not a supplement to it.

06 / The Future

Building institutions for Africa.

Everything before this section is record. Everything in it is intention, and is marked as such on every card. These are the six positions the work is pointed at, each with the thing it currently stands on written underneath it.

The through line

A library at Heidedal. A food garden. A Mandela Day programme that pulled four university units into one room. A faculty platform built so that heads of department can keep it alive without me. Different scales, one operation: convene the parties, establish the thing, hand it over, and stay accountable for whether it survives.

The ambition is to run that operation at institutional and continental scale, with a mandate and a budget behind it rather than goodwill and after-hours.
